Born in Sapporo in 1992. Now enrolled at the Graduate School of Fine Arts at Tokyo University of the Arts, majoring in design. Currently working on installation production through graphic design, 3D objects, paintings and drawings.

Yasue Kodama
ARTIST PROFILE

Born in Kobe City in 1961. She continually strives to create paintings that evoke the essence of existence and sincerely challenge one's sense of observation.
Her work captures extraordinary sights within everyday scenes. Her long-studied topic is to challenge the question of how one's sense of observation changes, and how to capture the mental process undergone at the moment when a new encounter occurs.
Joined the ""Future Forecast Picture - My Life Theatre"" exhibit at the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art in 2002, and the ""Kobe Biennale's 2009 LINK - Flexible Deviation"" artist's invitational exhibit in 2009.

Soji Shimizu
ARTIST PROFILE

Born in Mie Prefecture in 1983. After dropping out of Tokyo Zokei University Graduate School of Design, where he majored in graphic design, he graduated from Tsukuba University School of Art and Design in 2012, with a major in fine art. His main exhibits include the ""Setagaya Art Award 'Soji Shimizu'"" in 2015 (Setagaya Art Museum Citizen's Gallery, Tokyo,) ""New Works (Das Japanische House, Leipszig),"" ""Cross Dissolve (Youkobo Art Space, Tokyo)"" in 2014, ""Arafura Art Annual"" in 2013 (Tsuchiyuonsenmachi, Fukushima prefecture,) ""Warehouse Project"" in 2012 (Yokohama,) ""Nakanojo Biennale"" in 2011 (Nakanojo City, Gunma prefecture,) among others. He curated ""Itch"" (MIDORI.so, Tokyo) in 2015.

Toshiyuki Konishi
ARTIST PROFILE

Born in Hiroshima in 1980. In 2007, he completed an Oil Painting Course at Musashino Art University's Art and Design Department, while majoring in art. His first exhibitions took place in the mid-2000s, and two years ago he held a solo exhibition at ""Let's call this painting 'Love' αM Project 2012 vol.5"" (gallery αM.) Currently, approximately 80 pieces including new works are being exhibited in"" Nostalgia and Fantasy: The Imagination and Source of Modern Art"" (National Museum of Art.) He is also participating in ""The Way of Paintings"" (Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery.)

Miyuki Tsugami
ARTIST PROFILE

Born in Tokyo in 1973, but raised in Osaka.
Graduated from the Kyoto University of Art and Design Graduate School of Art in 1998.
Won the VOCA Award at the Ueno Royal Museum's ""VOCA Exhibition"" in 2003.
She created new pieces and displayed works for 50 days at ""The First ARKO-Artist in Residence Kurashiki, Ohara"" hosted by the Ohara Museum of Art in 2005, at the Muison-so (the former studio of Torajiro Kojima, a Western-style painter whose work laid the foundation for the Ohara Museum of Art) in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture. Her public collections are included at the Ohara Museum of Art (Okayama,) the Dai-ichi Mutual Life Insurance Company (Tokyo,) and Kyoto University of Art and Design (Kyoto.)

Kyogen
ARTIST PROFILE

Kyogen Studio opened 2010 inside a renovated old residential home situated in Inari-cho. While preserving the traditional techniques of "Monsho-uwaeshi", craftsmen who inscribe kamon (family crests) by hand onto kimono, Kyogen devotes itself to creating new kamon designs and kam on art for corporations and individuals based on the concept of "kamon in the context of modern design". They propose new forms of combining kamon with products, collaborating with designers of various genres.

Takeshi Hayashi
ARTIST PROFILE

Born in Gifu Prefecture in 1956. After graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School of Art, he stayed in Paris from 1998 to 1999 as an overseas researcher for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). He currently works as a professor at Tokyo University of the Arts. In 2012, he received the Enku Award for ""The Sixth Enku Grand Prix Exhibition Resonance with the Earth - The Root of Creation."" His work is characterized by its creation of an abstract space through the arrangement of multiple stones. Using multiple stones of varying shapes, he explores the relationship between the stones and between the stones and the space they are in.

Noma Aratani
ARTIST PROFILE

A photographer based in Tokyo. She creates artist photos and lookbooks etc. using film cameras. She has also started taking still photography of a film that She had been longing to work on. She also participated in French filmmaker Julien Levy's recent short film "THINGS TO SCREAM AT THE SUN."

Reiko Sudo
ARTIST PROFILE

Born in Ishioka City, Ibaraki Prefecture in 1953. A textile designer. Professor specializing in textile design at Tokyo Zokei University's Faculty of Art and Design, Department of Design. CEO of NUNO Corporation. Established design projects in dye and weave production areas of Japan. He has been a board member of MUJI since 2016. Winner of the Mainichi Design Award, Roscoor Award, JID category award, and many others.

Watanabe Woodcut Prints
ARTIST PROFILE

Established in Kyobashi in 1909. It has been operating in Ginza 8-chome, Namiki-dori since April, 1925, publishing and displaying woodblock prints of Ukiyo-e (such as Utamaro and Hiroshige) and new Taisho woodblock prints (including Hasui and Shinsui) as well as contemporary woodblock prints. They provide a wide range of products from affordable gifts to fine art.

Shigeki Yoshida
ARTIST PROFILE

Born in Ibaraki, a suburb of Tokyo, Japan. Shigeki studied painting at Wako University in Tokyo. After graduation, Shigeki pursued his early career as a painter and had several solo and group shows in Japan, Korea and Thailand. In 1997, Shigeki was awarded a fellowship by the Japanese government and came to New York. Shigeki enrolled in the Hunter College MFA program where he studied photography with the late Prof. Mark Feldstein and Prof. Roy DeCarava. Shigeki also studied with Prof. Katharina Siverding at UDK in Berlin as an exchange student. Shigeki earned his MFA in 2005, and now lives and works in Brooklyn.

Curation Members

Teruo Kurosaki

Born in Tokyo in 1949, Mr. Teruo Kurosaki is the founder of IDÉE. Focusing his work around the theme of "exploring life," Mr. Kurosaki curates and sells original pieces of furniture. Dealing with producers of pieces designed domestically and internationally, he works to expand the creative way of life.

Hozu Yamamoto

Mr. Hozu Yamamoto is the President and CEO of Tokyo Gallery + BTAP, the first contemporary art gallery in Japan. After graduating from the Musashino Art University School of Architecture, he worked in the House of Representatives, and ultimately joined the Tokyo Gallery. In addition to pursuing the discovery and rediscovery of classical Japanese expression, he is also deeply committed to many of his own personal projects.

3331 ARTS CYD

With assistance of 3331 Arts Chiyoda, every few months on the first floor gallery we will be rotating a display of works by artists and designers for both exhibition and sale.Based in the renovated Rensei Junior High School 3331 Arts Chiyoda creates a space in which leading artists and creatives have the freedom to present their diverse expressions. 3331 brings together cutting edge art with the familiar everyday.
