Profile

Mr. Shyoryu Hatoba, Mr. Youji Hatoba

With years of experience in the centuries-old creative tradition, this duo are indeed master craftsmen of the Japanese family crest. But what's more, they are embracing a more progressive concept of "family crests as design" in their everyday practice.
Collaborating with designers and producers of many walks, they create truly unique pieces based in this artful Japanese tradition. In 2010, they opened their workshop, "Atsurae-sho Kyogen" in a renovated traditional Japanese home in Inari-cho.
From their shop they designed NOHGA HOTEL UENO's custom crests, produced the crest artwork seen around the hotel, as well as hotel signage.
