For this event, NOHGA HOTEL is collaborating with Toshimaya , the oldest sake tavern in Tokyo. Toshimaya was founded by Juemon Toshimaya in 1596 on the Kamakura Waterfront, then the center of old Edo and today part of the Uchikanda neighborhood of Chiyoda city in Tokyo. Stories abound of the rich history of Toshimaya - it was frequented by members of the Edo Bakufu government, is considered the original forebear of Izakaya-style pubs in Japan, and started the custom of enjoying shirozake white sake as part of the Hinamatsuri girl's festival in Japan. The Kinkon sake brewed at Toshimaya's brewery in Higashimurayama is the only sake to be offered as sacred sake for the gods at Tokyo's two great shrines, Meiji Jingu Shrine and Kanda Myojin Shrine. NOHGA has selected exquisite cuisine and sake glasses to pair perfectly with Toshimaya's internationally awarded Kinkon sake to bring you a precious, meaningful "experience you can only have here, for a single day."

Toshimaya Corporation
Toshimaya, the oldest sake tavern in Tokyo, was founded by Juemon Toshimaya in 1596 on the Kamakura Waterfront in the center of Edo, today the neighborhood of Uchikanda in Chiyoda city, Tokyo. Toshimaya is said to have started the custom of enjoying shirozake white sake as part of the Hinamatsuri girl's festival in Japan. The festive scene of Toshimaya selling shirozake is even depicted in the historic Edo Meisho Zue , the Guide to famous Edo sites.
Toshimaya began brewing sake at the start of the Meiji period and the Kinkon refined sake brewed at the Toshimaya's brewery in Higashimurayama has won worldwide acclaim. Kinkon is the only sake to be offered as sacred sake for the gods at Tokyo's two great shrines, Meiji Jingu Shrine and Kanda Myojin Shrine. Kinkon has won numerous awards in Japan and abroad, and is today exported to over 10 countries around the world. Considered the progenitor of the Izakaya-style pub in Japan, Toshimaya opened a new version of its Toshimaya Sake Shop , which had been closed since the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923, in the Kanda Nishikicho neighborhood in 2020. Based on the concept of "Edo Tokyo Modern ," the Toshimaya Sake Shop offers modern expressions of classic Edo value and delights.
