【Artist in Residence】
NOHGA HOTEL has been involved in several initiatives that emphasize our relationship with art, and the artist-in-residence program is one of them. We will be exhibiting Miyo Ogawa's previous works and pieces she created during her residency in January.Artist: Miyo OgawaExhibition Period: February 3rd - February 28th"ROOM #609"
The exhibition consists of "My Planet" series, which archives travel time by car through photograms, as well as new works created in Kyoto during my stay.
"My Planet" (2024)
I have deliberately started to create time for myself to move somewhere alone as a proactive response to anxiety. Particularly, traveling by car creates a strong sense of being inside a box, becoming a wandering room detached from everyday life.
This work captures the travel time through photograms and a dashcam. The photosensitive paper, placed on the passenger seat window, preserves the traces of the title " My Planet " and the opening and closing of the window. The dashcam, triggered by the engine's on-off status, records the journey.
By reconstructing the act of photography through driving, this work archives the time for my self-care
